Our History
Conlin Travel was founded in 1959 by L. Thomas Conlin in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We have grown to a position
of leadership in the travel community and now encompass several travel-related companies. Over the years we
have worked with hundreds of thousands of clients striving to make each and every one of their travel journeys
an exceptional experience and value.
1959 – Conlin Travel was founded on South University Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan
1964 – Conlin Athletic Tours was formed and became the official travel agent for the Big Ten bowl trips
1976 – First agency in area to install automated airline reservation system
1976 – Established separate corporate travel division
1978 – Acquired Van Slycke & Reeside Travel Associates in Washington D.C.
1979 – Acquired Anderson Travel in Winston-Salem, NC.
1980 – Acquired National Travel Service
1983 – Founded Conlin-Hallissey Travel School
1994 – Established branch office in San Francisco, California
1990 – Purchased Faber Travel
1998 – Formed Great Lakes Cruise Company
1998 – Acquired A-New Travel
1999 – Founded Conlin Consulting computer services
2000 – Acquired Joy Leitz Travel
2001 – Joined American Express Travel Network
2004 – Established joint venture with Averett Elite Group Travel Agency, San Francisco
2005 – Established joint venture with Bisbee Travel of Jackson, Michigan
2005 – Established joint venture with College Travel of Lansing, Michigan
